Further down the wild garden you'll find Caban yr Afon - Welsh for River Cabin, pronounced Ka-ban Eer Av-on.
This Cabin was built after Bwthyn Bach originally for Micki's pottery students. It is set slightly apart from the gallery and the pottery buildings. With the recent addition of a private wash-house this is the cabin to choose if you want peace and more privacy. Caban yr Afon looks over the tidal river - the Burry Pill -that runs through the property. You can cool down here in the summer, or have a very invigorating dip in winter.
Caban yr Afon has two rooms; there's a sofa bed in one and the kitchen space is in the other. The kitchen is basic but has everything you need for cooking and storing food - including a fridge with small freezer compartment, a small induction hob a small air fryer, toaster and kettle . The sofa bed can be put away during the day to create a comfortable living space. We keep a table and chairs on the grass outside during the summer, and there is also a fire pit that you're welcome to use.
Just behind the cabin is the beautiful new wash house. Designed and built by Stephen Bates during the summer of 2023. You can now enjoy a secluded shower among the trees. The wash house also has a compost toilet(throne) and a wash basin.
There is an intermittent wifi connection to this the cabin, which uses our office wifi. Although you won't have full coverage it is sometimes strong enough to pick up messages and emails.
2 nights minimum stay.
There is space for two adults to sleep on the sofa bed and room can be made for a baby or small children - if you'd like to discuss this then please drop us an email.
